Volunteer

We have many great volunteer opportunities at PREVAIL. Work directly with participants, help behind-the-scenes or volunteer remotely.

Direct Services

Direct service programs work directly with program participants. Direct Service volunteers are required to undergo a background check and complete our Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victim Assistance Training (VAT). Successful completion of VAT is required before volunteers are able to work directly with participants. Direct service opportunities include:

  • Crisis Intervention

    • 24 Hr. Crisis Line Support
    • 24 Hr. Hospital Response for Sexual Assault Victims
    • Court Accompaniment
    • Restraining Order Assistance
    • In-Person Crisis Intervention Support (Walk-Ins)
  • Supportive Services

    • Peer Counseling
    • Support Groups
  • Shelter Services

    • Domestic Violence Shelter Coverage
    • 24 Hour Crisis Line Support

VAT is a 69-hour, state-certified training for staff and volunteers to better understand the issues surrounding domestic violence, sexual assault, and youth homelessness, and how to assist individuals and families directly impacted. As a VAT Volunteer in direct services, you will assist in providing support, assistance and resources to program participants. Services are offered to men, women and youth, regardless of race, orientation, economic background, immigration status or gender, in English, Spanish and a variety of other languages. Services are also provided to our incarcerated and formerly incarcerated populations. System-impacted individuals, BIPOC, men and bilingual individuals are encouraged to apply for this training in order to help us better meet the needs of our diverse community and clients.

VAT Applications are currently CLOSED. Next VAT Session will be Summer 2023.
