About Us

Since 1976, PREVAIL (Pioneering Restoration and Elevating Voices of Advocacy, Idealism and Leadership) has been San Joaquin County’s primary provider of free, confidential services and shelters specifically designed to meet the needs of homeless and runaway youth and victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Through our programs and services, we are helping victims heal, restoring hope, strengthening families, and building a safer community.

Our Mission

To provide safety, compassion, and respect as we educate, empower and advocate for individuals, families and young people.

Our Vision

To create opportunities for hope, healing, and growth by breaking intergenerational cycles of violence and abuse.

Our History

On March 1, 1976, The Women's Center of San Joaquin County opened its doors. The Center evolved out of the initiative, planning and dedication of eight local women who realized there was not a central place in the community where women and children in crisis could turn to for information, encouragement, and support.
