PREA Program Coordinator

Position Description

The PREA Program Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position that provides day-to-day coordination of the PREA Program and provides leadership to CARE Program Specialists and volunteers to ensure excellence in service delivery. The PREA Coordinator acts as a liaison between PREVAIL and community partners (i.e. correctional facilities), and also provides direct services to incarcerated victims of sexual assault, including but not limited to: crisis intervention (hotline and in-person); medical and legal accompaniment; follow up services; 1:1 peer counseling; psychoeducational and support groups; resources and referrals; and advocacy services to victims of sexual assault and their family members and/or significant others.

The PREA Program Coordinator reports to the RISE Program Manager and regularly collaborates with other Program Coordinators and Program Managers. Work hours may include some local travel, weekends, and work outside of standard business hours, as needed.

Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Provide support to the CARE Program Staff and volunteers to maintain a high level of excellence among programs, including but not limited to, facilitating team conversations, using good business judgement, role-modeling appropriate direct service techniques during difficult situations, and working with executive leadership, program leadership, and other team members in a variety of settings.
  • Represent agency and maintain effective relationships with community partners including, but not limited to: federal, state and local government or municipalities; foundations; local businesses; community organizations; and community supporters.
Program Coordination
  • Ensure effective day-to-day program coordination of the PREA Program including, but not limited to, providing support to Program Specialists, volunteers, and On-Call Hospital Response Workers, maintaining and assigning referrals, evaluations, facilitate team meetings, participate in shared 24/7 on-call services as necessary, and other related or assigned duties.
  • Implementation of effective policies and procedures.
  • Represent PREVAIL with community partners that serve incarcerated victims of SA or individuals at-risk of experiencing those victimizations; partners may include, but are not limited to: correctional facilities, law enforcement, medical facilities, Child Protective Services, shelters, community organizations, schools, taskforces/MDTs, etc.
  • Ensure community partners are aware of PREVAIL programs and services; efforts may include but are not limited to: providing educational and awareness presentations and delivering program materials, such as brochures and crisis cards.
  • Support the development, expansion, and/or interaction of programs/services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Direct Services
  • Advocacy: Provide quality, trauma-informed advocacy to support client needs; services may include assistance with temporary restraining orders, accompanying client to access other community resources, court accompaniment, etc.
  • Respond to victims of sexual assault at emergency medical facilities and act as a liaison between victims, hospital/CAC staff, and law enforcement personnel.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to victims and their family members and/or significant others, including advocacy, accompaniment, basic and immediate needs assessment, appropriate referrals and support to victim and their significant others.
  • Be readily available during assigned on-call hours to respond immediately to victims and/or response team personnel.
  • Maintain a network of communication, collaboration, and cooperation between medical treatment facilities, law enforcement agencies, Victim Witness, etc., to best assist victims and their families.
  • Make appropriate internal referrals for other PREVAIL supportive services as needed.
  • Participate in regular and on-going trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Administrative
  • Perform administrative tasks, as necessary, to support both program management and role responsibilities.

PREVAIL is a highly established nonprofit organization funded by a variety of federal, state and local government agencies, foundation grants and individual supporters. The continuation of programs, and therefore employment positions, may be contingent upon continued receipt of these or alternative funding sources.
