Women's Center-Youth & Family Services (WCYFS) displays more than eighty life-sized, red silhouettes – silhouettes that, as part of the Silent Witness National Initiative, represent victims from San Joaquin County who have been killed as a result of domestic violence. The Silent Witness National Initiative was introduced to our county in 2000, and today, it includes dozens of victims ranging in ages from 2 to 60.

What does Domestic Violence mean: violent or aggressive behavior within the home, typically involving the violent abuse of spouse or partner. This is the definition from Oxford Languages. But what does it mean to someone in the midst of the storm?
To a child, that could mean the way a mommy and daddy love each other; to a neighbor, it could just be the way they fight. To family, it is always how those two act.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is held throughout the month of October as a way to bring awareness and help end domestic violence. We ask YOU, our community, to unite in our work to end domestic violence because we cannot do it alone. It is time to show solidarity, support and share the stories affecting our community not just those being victimized.

Services continue for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and youth homelessness.
Women’s Center-Youth & Family Services (WCYFS) understands this is a difficult and unprecedented time, and we hope everyone is staying safe. While we are practicing social distancing as a community to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, WCYFS remains committed to serving victims and homeless youth. We continue to provide critical services and crisis intervention to individuals and families through our 24-hour helplines, phone appointments and limited in-person contact.
WCYFS cares deeply about the health of its community, supporters, clients and team. Due to rising concerns around the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and recommendations from government agencies, we have made changes to ensure the safety of everyone.

Violence. Fear. Panic… the dangerous realities women, men and children face when fleeing abusive relationships. In many cases, the only time to flee is when the abuser is not home – opportunities that often arise late at night or early in the morning when there is no public transportation. In cases such as these, Women’s Center-Youth and Family Services provides fleeing victims with transportation to the refuge and safety of a shelter.
"Changing Lives. Restoring Hope." produced by Daly Video Services in the spring of 2016, highlights 40 years of the agency's commitment to help end violence and youth homelessness in San Joaquin County.
This year's vigil will include a reading of the names of 70 local victims. Women's Center-YFS welcomes family and friends of victims to attend, and encourages them to reach out to Women's Center-YFS to find out how they can become involved in the vigil.
TRACY – On Tuesday, September 9, Women’s Center - Youth & Family Services, and Sutter Tracy Community Hospital will host a dedication for Serenity House, Women’s Center-YFS’ new shelter for battered women and their children residing in South San Joaquin County. The dedication will be held from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm. Women’s Center-YFS invites the agency’s friends and supporters to join staff, board members and dignitaries as it celebrates this exciting new milestone.
In the spring of 2014, Women's Center-Youth & Family Services, in collaboration with Judith Buethe Communications launched the media campaign, "Some Problems are too big to Face Alone." The billboard and RTD bus ads are currently being featured throughout San Joaquin County. The campaign started April 14, 2014 and will run through July 20, 2014 and feature compelling images in association with our 24-hour helpline numbers. This campaign is designated to let the community know of our services for homeless youth and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Preview some of the billboards below:
With the help of La Piana Consulting, on July 1, 2012, Family and Youth Services (FAYS) and the Women’s Center of San Joaquin County officially merged to become a new organization, Women’s Center – Youth & Family Services.
The merger is the first of its kind in San Joaquin County in more than a decade, and this union has created a stronger organization with a larger platform, better able to serve the needs of our community.
Did you know that more than 39 percent of the homeless are 18 years and younger? Join us on November 13 for the premiere of the documentary "Left Behind," a film by Shane Williamson that chronicles the lives of San Joaquin County homeless youth, shown in support of Homeless and Runaway Youth Awareness Month.
"Paths no Longer Traveled" is a short film created by Women's Center-YFS staff member Candy Kebe. The video depicts the reality domestic violence victims face in San Joaquin county.
TRACY – On Thursday, July 18, 2013, Women’s Center - Youth & Family Services, the Tracy Police Department and the Tracy Chamber of Commerce will host an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony at the Women’s Center-YFS’ new Tracy office in the Tracy Police Department Annex.
Local dignitaries and friends of Women’s Center-YFS will gather to celebrate this partnership. Women’s Center-YFS’ Tracy office has moved from its previous location at Healthy Connections Family Resource Center on 35 E. 10th Street to a shared space at Tracy Police Department Annex at 400 E. 10th Street.
