Christmas in July: A Day of Joy, Generosity, and Game-Changing Support for Survivors

christmas-in-july-2025

This July, the spirit of giving isn’t waiting for winter. On Friday, July 25th, PREVAIL’s Second Annual Christmas in July Home Run Derby is bringing the magic of the holidays to the ballpark – complete with festive fun, a fierce (but friendly!) competition, and an ambitious goal to raise $80,000 to support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and youth homelessness.

Our goal is more than triple the amount raised last year.

Why the big jump? Because the need is even bigger. And so is the community’s commitment.

A Record-Breaking Goal with Real Impact

In 2024 alone, PREVAIL served over 6,200 individuals across San Joaquin County. The demand for support continues to grow and so does the need for unrestricted funding to expand and sustain life-saving services. Every dollar raised during this Christmas in July event helps PREVAIL respond quickly, compassionately, and effectively.

These funds fuel wraparound programs and services that break intergenerational cycles of violence and abuse. Your support has enabled us to provide services and programs such as:

  • Emergency shelter beds for transitional-aged youth (18 to 25)
  • Advocacy for minors experiencing neglect, physical abuse, or exposure to domestic violence
  • Legal services and housing assistance for domestic violence survivors
  • Clinical support for youth at risk of homelessness or exploitation

Some programs must operate for 90 days before being eligible for grant reimbursement, which makes early donor support so essential. Your donations have already helped PREVAIL access over $500,000 in additional resources to meet urgent needs for housing, legal aid, and clinical care.

This growth doesn’t only expand services – it elevates survivor voices and allows PREVAIL to educate the public on the realities of domestic violence, trafficking, and exploitation. Increased support means a broader outreach, greater visibility, and more opportunities to inspire resilience and hope.

First Responders Step Up to the Plate

Among the teams stepping into the batter’s box are local police and fire departments. They are joining forces not just for fun, but to advocate for safer communities. Their involvement demonstrates what real community engagement looks like: showing up, taking action, and standing with survivors.

Their visibility at the event also fosters stronger community-police relationships and helps raise broader awareness of the issues PREVAIL tackles every day.

Fun for a Cause

Of course, our holiday derby wouldn’t be complete without a little friendly rivalry – and a lot of Christmas cheer! The day includes a full lineup of activities for all ages: breakfast, lunch, team competition, a Ports baseball game, and even visits from Santa and Splash, the Stockton Ports mascot.

Picture this: kids running the bases in holiday hats, teams high fiving after a big hit, and families sharing laughs in the Ports Kids’ Zone. Each smiling face and swing of the bat reminds us of how joy can unite us and how community fun can be a catalyst for personal empowerment and lasting change.

PREVAIL jerseys, prizes, and playful surprises remind us that giving can be joyful – and that joy is a powerful form of resistance in the face of hardship.

Why Sponsorship Matters

Sponsorships, from $500 to $10,000, make this event possible. More importantly, they help ensure that PREVAIL can continue to educate, advocate, and support the community year-round. Local businesses who step in as sponsors aren’t just getting their logos on a banner – they’re putting their values into action and investing in a safer, more compassionate future for San Joaquin County.

These sponsorships directly support PREVAIL’s ability to expand educational outreach, advocate for policy change, and provide urgently needed services to those who need them most.

You’re Part of This Movement

This event is about more than baseball or even fundraising. It’s about connecting with each other. About community. About creating a culture where survivors are heard, believed, and supported.

Whether you’re a student, business owner, team captain, or first-time attendee – your presence matters. Events like this inspire ripple effects, such as sparking new partnerships, new volunteers, and renewed hope for those who need it most.

Whether you attend, donate, sponsor, or simply help spread the word, you’re helping PREVAIL continue its mission: to provide safety, compassion, and respect while educating, empowering, and advocating for those in need.

Together, we can hit it out of the park – for survivors, for families, and for the future.
