Christmas in July: A Day of Joy, Generosity, and Game-Changing Support for Survivors

updated-2025-champ

Are you ready to hit one out of the park?

PREVAIL’s Christmas in July Home Run Derby is back for its third year on Friday, July 17th from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, home of the Stockton Ports. Join us for an exciting day of friendly competition, community spirit, and giving back.

Step Up to the Plate – How the Home Run Derby Works

Form a team of 5 hitters and compete to see who can knock out the most home runs. Each hitter will have 60 seconds at the plate, and teams will battle it out for the highest total score as the competition builds throughout the day.

New This Year: Three Divisions

We’re bringing even more excitement to the derby with three divisions:
Future Sluggers Youth Division (youth under the age of 18)
Community Division (fun and friendly competition)
Power Hitters Division (for teams ready to bring the big hits)

How the Derby Works

  • The day will kick off with our Future Sluggers Youth Showcase, where local Little League teams or High School teams compete in their own home run derby.
  • All adult teams will then compete together in one shared qualifying round.
  • During this round, each team will hit and record their total number of home runs.
  • At the end of the qualifying round:
    • The highest-scoring Community team will be crowned the Community Division Champion.
  • At the end of the qualifying round:
    • The highest-scoring Community team will be crowned the Community Division Champion.
    • Teams that hit 20 or more home runs will advance to the Power Hitters Final Round. The Power Hitters Final Round will determine the overall Power Hitters Champion.
  • Awards will be presented at the end of the event for:
    🏆 Youth Division Champion
    🏆 Community Division Champion
    🏆 Power Hitters Champion

The Competition is Heating Up

Last year, we saw an intense head-to-head battle between the Stockton Police Department and the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s ASALT Task Force. The year before, Bay Alarm took home the crown.
Do you have what it takes to knock them off their throne?

More Than Just a Game

This isn’t just a competition. It’s a full event experience. Stick around after the derby for lunch, raffle prizes, a silent auction, and festive Christmas in July fun throughout the ballpark.

Get Involved

Businesses and agencies can participate in multiple ways:
Register a team and compete in the derby
Become a sponsor and receive event recognition and guest entry
Sponsor a youth team, helping local players participate in the event while supporting a great cause

Why It Matters

Christmas in July is more than a theme, it’s a reminder that the individuals and families we serve need support all year long, not just during the holiday season.

By participating in the Home Run Derby, you are helping PREVAIL continue providing critical services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and at-risk homeless youth. Your support brings hope, healing, and stability to those who need it most.
